Heart Rate activity

22nd May 2022

After our week of learning about making healthy choices, Room 4 carried out an investigation to find out which activity makes our heart beat fastest.

We had a number of different activities eg basketball dribble, jogging, star jumps, hurdles etc and we timed ourselves completing each for 30 seconds. Then we measured our pulse. Lots of smart watches do this for us now but we tried the old fashioned way by finding our pulse on our wrist and counted for ten seconds. To find our heart rate per minute then we multiplied by 6.

It was good fun trying to find our pulse! We found that any activity increased our heart rate and the most active was jogging/ running activities.
