Room 5 STEM Morning

8th Jun 2026
What a fabulous morning for our Room 5 class with a visit from Roy from Sentinus! 🔬✨

Our Science and Technology workshop linked perfectly with our Titanic topic as the children explored the science behind floating and sinking. Using oranges, grapes, and raisins, they investigated why some objects float while others sink and discovered how air bubbles can affect buoyancy. They also designed and made their own boats from tin foil, testing their creations to see how well they floated.

The children enjoyed making circuits to power a fan and learning about Morse code, developing their science and technology skills through hands-on investigation and problem-solving. The highlight of the morning was creating and launching distress signal paper tubes high into the air using air pressure – there were lots of excited faces as they watched them soar high into the sky.

It was a highly informative, engaging, and fun-filled session that brought our learning to life and sparked lots of curiosity and excitement. A huge thank you to Roy and Sentinus for such a fantastic science and technology experience and for inspiring our young scientists and engineers!
