School Council

We have a thriving and active School Council called 'Kids Voice.' Each year elections are held to select new council members from each class. The council meet monthly to discuss issues raised at Class Council. Pupils are encouraged to contribute actively to discussions as Castledawson Primary is committed to seeking the views of our pupils when making decisions on school matters. Class Council meetings are held regularly and minutes are kept by the Council Secretary.

The School Council regularly meet to discuss issues in school and to be consulted on policies or development plans in school. This year our school council created a child friendly version of our School Development Plan and more recently created a leaflet about the 6 Principles of Nurture. Next our school council will consulted on the new Anti-Bullying Act 'Addressing Bullying in Schools (NI) Act 2016.'
