Castledawson Primary School

Primary 3-4

Welcome to Room 3! Hopefully you all had a lovely summer and are so excited to get back to school.  In room 3, our topic this term is 'Bones’. Some of the areas we will be learning about are the human skeleton and how it keeps are organs safe, comparing animal skeletons, fossils and how they help us learn about animals that no longer exist.

In numeracy, we will be looking at lots of number, revising and practising skip counting, number patterns, place value and number revision of number bonds. We will also be looking at telling the time in analogue and digital clock and learning about 2D shapes, tessellation and exploring patterns in our own environment.

During autumn, we will be studying a short novel 'The Owl Who Was Afraid of the dark and sharing our different thoughts and opinions about the book. We show our understanding of stories through role play, looking at characters, settings and explaining our favourite parts and investigating interesting words we haven't come across before. This term, we will be writing recounts about our summer holidays and reports about owls.
