Room 4’s STEM Adventure with Micro:bits and Motor Cars

5th May 2026

Room 4 had a fantastic day today learning with Roy from Sentinus!

We kicked things off with a Microsoft workshop, where we explored the core functions of the Micro:bit and programmed it to carry out different tasks. We discovered how this technology links to real-world applications such as sensors, alarms, smart watches and even computer games. The children loved creating their own codes to change the display and play different sounds.

After break, we turned our attention to the engineering side of STEM. We designed and built our own cars, starting with the basic components like axles and wheels, before adding electric motors to bring them to life. We then raced our cars to see which design was the most successful!

It was a brilliant morning filled with learning, fun and fantastic teamwork. 🚗⚡
