Celebrating Sir David Attenborough in Room 4

8th May 2026

Today we had the best day celebrating David Attenborough’s 100th birthday! 🌍🎉

In Room 4, we started the day learning all about the life and work of Sir David Attenborough and the amazing ways he has helped us understand and care for our planet.

We were also very lucky to enjoy an exciting visit from Rob, one of our school parents, who shared fascinating stories about some of the biggest and smallest birds he had the pleasure of observing in his previous job. 🦅🐦 The boys and girls loved hearing all about the different species and asking lots of questions!

Rob also taught us about the important features of a bug hotel and how they provide safe spaces for insects and creepy crawlies before we went on to make our own using natural resources found around our school grounds. We decorated junk materials and created warm, cosy corners to attract wildlife. 🐞🍂

We also enjoyed watching part of his latest series, Secret Garden, and discussed the wildlife we can spot in our gardens and school grounds throughout the different seasons. Finally, we used modelling clay to create our own mini creatures and animals. 🐛🦋

A brilliant day celebrating our wonderful Earth and the inspiring David Attenborough! 💚

Thank you, Rob, for such an interesting visit — the boys and girls absolutely loved it!
