🌱 Digging Deep: A Celebration of Nature & Heritage! 🥔
11th May 2026
What a beautiful afternoon spent in the great outdoors! As part of our collaborative series funded by the Primary Science Trust, we welcomed parents and grandparents into our garden for a truly special intergenerational lesson.
Inspired by Seamus Heaney, we began by sharing his iconic poem "Digging." It was the perfect way to set the scene before we "dug in" ourselves, preparing drills and planting our very own potatoes.
The creativity didn’t stop at the soil! We also:
- Carved custom shapes directly from potatoes.
- Explored unique textures and colours through printmaking.
- Connected across generations, sharing stories and skills.
This project is all about celebrating nature and promoting the Take 5 Steps to Wellbeing. By connecting, staying active, and taking notice of the world around us, we are growing much more than just vegetables!
✨ Coming Up: We are so excited for our final session at the Seamus Heaney HomePlace, where we will celebrate the natural world that inspired so much of his legendary work.
