Castledawson Primary School

Mrs Hammond Farewell

27th Jun 2026
This week, alongside saying goodbye to our wonderful P7 pupils, we also said farewell to one of our very special classroom assistants, Mrs Hammond.

After 17 years as part of the Castledawson Primary School family, Mrs Hammond is stepping away from her classroom assistant role to enjoy some well-deserved time with her family. To say she will be missed is a huge understatement.

It’s impossible to put into words the impact Mrs Hammond has had on our school community over the years. She has touched the lives of hundreds of children and families through her kindness, patience and unwavering care. Whether she was supporting a child one-to-one, working with our youngest pupils in P1, helping our older children in Room 5, leading our Roots of Empathy programme or championing Take 5, she always gave every child the very best of herself.

Mrs Hammond has been so much more than a classroom assistant. She has been a listening ear, a reassuring presence, a source of wisdom, encouragement and positivity, and someone who has always put children at the heart of everything she does. Her dedication, compassion and quiet commitment have made a lasting difference to so many lives, and her legacy will continue to be felt throughout our school for years to come.

Thankfully, this isn’t goodbye altogether. We are delighted that Mrs Hammond will continue as our Roots of Empathy instructor—a programme that means so much to our children and school community. We are very grateful that she will still be sharing her warmth, knowledge and expertise with us in this role.

Mrs Hammond, thank you for 17 years of loyalty, friendship, laughter and dedication to Castledawson Primary School. It has been an absolute privilege to have you as part of our team. You have helped shape our school in countless ways, and you will always be part of the Castledawson family.

We wish you and your family every happiness and blessing as you begin this new chapter. Enjoy every moment—you have more than earned it. ❤️
