Sir David Attenborough Day!

8th May 2026

What a fabulous day we had celebrating Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday today!

It was wonderful to see everyone joining in the spirit of the day with their animal-inspired outfits.

We started the day with a range of activities that we had planned and agreed on last week. The children created beautiful art collages, made stop-motion videos, composed music using GarageBand, and enjoyed a special visit from Ranger Rob!

Rob took us to his Explorer Base Camp, where he taught us about endangered species and shared the fascinating facts of how wolves were successfully reintroduced into the wild in Yellowstone National Park. Inspired by Sir David Attenborough’s latest series, he then set us a challenge to discover animals living in our own environment.

We explored the school grounds looking for mini beasts and small animals, such as birds, that we can photograph later and use to create our own one-minute wildlife commentaries about their habitats and place in the food chain. Rob will be returning soon with his friend to help us develop our photography skills even further.

It was a fantastic day full of exploration, creativity, and learning about our wonderful world.
