Technology in Room 5
🎥 A wee video from Room 5 this week! Our children have been learning all about life in Ancient Egypt — especially how important the River Nile was for farming. 🌾
To deepen their understanding, the kids worked together to design and build their own shaduf — an ancient Egyptian irrigation tool used to lift water from the Nile onto the fields. 💧🌿
In a time when Egypt was mostly desert, the Nile’s yearly flooding made the surrounding land fertile and ideal for growing crops like wheat, barley, and flax. Ancient Egyptians developed clever irrigation systems like the shaduf to make the most of the river’s water during drier months.
The class showed awesome creativity and teamwork, using a mix of natural materials from around our school grounds and recycled bits and pieces. Amazing effort and learning in action! 🙌🇪🇬
