Things got EXTREMELY Cool in P1 and P2 this week
To celebrate British Science Week our youngest explorers dived into the “How” and “Why?”of the World Around Us. From hands on activities to exploring the “Extreme Cold” workshop children had fun learning at W5 today. They investigated why penguins huddle from Antarctic winds, the benefits of having blubber to protect polar bears from the extreme conditions of the Arctic. We learnt that some fish can survive freezing conditions due to the lack of red blood cells this was explored using syringes to transfer red and white liquids in freezing conditions. Probably the most amazing thing we learnt was that wetas which is an insect survives the cold by freezing. To discover how this was possible,we were wowed by an experiment when liquid changed to ice by simply striking a bottle on the table. Our children aren't just learning about science; we are inspiring the scientists of the future.😀
