World Book Day in Room 5

5th Mar 2026

We had a fantastic time celebrating World Book Day in Room 5! 📚

Our P7 and P1 pupils enjoyed a wonderful storytelling session with Lisa, one of our P1 parents. Lisa shared the story Badger Books by Northern Irish author Paddy Donnelly. After listening to the story, the children worked together to create their own settings, characters and plots, and illustrated their ideas. There were so many brilliant and creative suggestions! The pupils then used the Book Creator app to turn their stories into their own digital books, and they can’t wait to share them when they are finished.

A big thank you to Lisa for coming in and leading such a lovely lesson.

Afterwards, our school librarians also enjoyed spending time with Lisa. They created blurbs and book reviews which they are now displaying beside books in our library to encourage others to read them too.

Our P2 and P6 children had great fun exploring the Mr Men series together. They listened to lots of stories and then designed their own Mr Men-style characters. Stephen also joined us from our Sunflower Room, which made the session even more special.

It was a wonderful day filled with reading, creativity and collaboration. The children then headed home to enjoy even more reading as our Readathon challenge comes to an end!
