World Ocean Day

7th Jun 2019

Our pupils dressed in blue today in support of World Ocean Day. Eco committee members shared with the school some of the problems created by single use plastic. We were horrified by the waste washed ashore in some parts of the world and recognise that children’s rights in these areas are being denied as they cannot play safely in a clean environment.

To address the issue of plastic pollution we have agreed to try to limit our use of plastic. This week children surveyed lunch boxes for plastic bags, straws, cartons/bottles of juice and wrappers. We hope next week that our lunch boxes will contain less plastic in a bid to work together to clean up our oceans.
